Formby Pine Woods

Formby offers some of the finest sand dune habitats, which serve as thriving grounds for various rare species, including natterjack toads. These locations are not only ecologically significant but also rich in history. Visitors can catch glimpses of the past by spotting prehistoric footprints and shipwrecks, as well as exploring areas that were once vast asparagus fields. Formby, in particular, boasts sweeping pinewoods that provide a habitat for the iconic red squirrel. While sunny days and holidays tend to attract larger crowds, you may prefer to plan your visit on a quieter day to fully enjoy the experience.
